While the holidays may not be a direct cause of hair loss, the stress they inflict can certainly lead to diffuse hair shedding.
Laser Vein Removal in Fort Washington, PA
ABOUT LASER VEIN REMOVAL
Commonly found on the legs and face, spider veins are small, branching blood vessels that are visible through the skin. Caused by age, genetics, and other factors, spider veins can be purple, red, and blue, which makes them difficult to conceal. Since spider veins usually progress over time and become more and more visible, it’s important to seek treatment at the first signs. To reduce the appearance of spider veins on the face and body, Spa 361 at the Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute offers noninvasive laser vein removal for men and women in Lansdale, PA and the surrounding area. During your private consultation, we will create a personalized plan based on your unique needs and goals for your laser vein treatment.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
Laser vein removal treatments at Spa 361 at the Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute can improve the appearance of small- to medium-sized blood vessels on the face and body. Commonly referred to as spider veins, these blood vessels are typically not a medical problem, but they are often considered unattractive by patients who have them. Many people avoid certain clothing (like shorts and swimsuits) or use a large amount of makeup to try to hide their spider veins. Laser vein removal is best for patients who are in overall good health, do not have a history of blood clots, and are not pregnant.
Laser vein removal is not the best solution for the larger, swollen veins called varicose veins. If you suffer from varicose veins, a better method of treatment is sclerotherapy.
PROCEDURE TECHNIQUE
Laser vein treatments are performed in our Lansdale, PA office as an outpatient procedure in 20 – 40 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. During your laser vein procedure, you will lie comfortably in a private treatment room as the affected area is cleansed and prepared. If requested, a topical anesthetic can be applied before your treatment to lessen any potential discomfort. The handheld laser device is passed over the area so the energy can target the veins through a series of pulses without affecting the surrounding tissues. The blood vessel absorbs the laser energy, which causes it to collapse and close. Eventually, the collapsed blood vessel will be absorbed and passed out of the body. You will be able to leave our office right after the treatment to resume your normal activities.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After your laser vein removal treatment, you may experience swelling, redness, and bruising, but these symptoms should subside within 7 – 10 days. For faster healing, support or compression garments should be worn to improve your blood circulation. It’s important to avoid prolonged sun exposure, and you should apply sunscreen frequently to treated areas.
Some patients may see visible improvements immediately, but results will vary for each patient. During your initial consultation, we will discuss what results you can realistically expect, as well as recommendations on how many sessions you will need to achieve your best results. New spider veins will probably develop over time, so more treatments may be needed every few years.
REMOVE SPIDER VEINS
Constantly being self-conscious about your spider veins can affect your quality of life, because the efforts you make to hide them can impact your participation and enjoyment of daily activities. If you are living your life based on clothes or makeup that hides your spider veins, we urge you to consider laser vein removal treatment at Spa 361 at the Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute. During your consultation, we will assess your veins and discuss what kind of results you could expect.
